Dealing with identity theft. Is your state in danger?

Hey everyone, I've recently found myself in a pretty concerning situation and wanted to share my experience with you all. So, here's what's been happening:

A few weeks ago, I noticed some weird activities on my bank account and got a sinking feeling that I might be a victim of identity theft. Now, I'm not an expert on this stuff, and I'm a bit overwhelmed with what to do next. I've read the basic steps to take in case of identity theft, but I'm curious if any of you have been through this, especially in a state with a higher risk.

I live in a state that apparently has a higher rate of identity theft cases. I stumbled upon this article (about USA states with the most identity theft) https://consumerattorneys.com/article/the-top-10-states-with-the-most-identity-theft, and it got me thinking about my own situation.

What steps did I should take to protect myself? Did you find that living in a state with more identity theft cases made it more challenging to resolve the issue? Any advice on dealing with credit bureaus or law enforcement in these situations?

I appreciate any insights or personal experiences you can share.
